Albinism is defined as a genetic disorder that causes the lack of melanin, or pigment, in the person’s body. This causes things like hair being platinum blond and eyes being a bright red. While it may not seem like much, it can cause extreme sensitivity to the sun and very poor eyesight.
As an Albino myself, the awareness of Albinism is very close to my heart. When I was born, my parents had no idea what Albinism was,,\ and it caused them to have an extremely hard time figuring out what kind of medical attention my sister and I would have needed. It’s very important that Albino children are given the help they need in order to live like everyone else, and the first take we need to take is making people aware that Albinism exists.
